Where Nature Comes First
Located on a picturesque island, Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives owes much of its beauty and popularity to its natural surroundings; from the thriving coral reef that borders our resort to the warm ocean waters that’s home to a myriad of marine life. Sustainability is at the core of our resort.
At Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives, we understand the importance of protecting and preserving our natural resources and safeguarding the local community. To minimise our impact on the environment and additionally improve it in its entirety, we have implemented several mechanisms from banning single use plastics to effective waste management protocols.
Wave Energy
The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University together with the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Maldives, and Kokyo Tatemono Company Limited of Tokyo, Japan, initiated a wave energy project in Maldives on the famed surf break “Kandooma Right” located right on our doorstep.
Solar Power
As part of our efforts to minimise our impact on the environment and continue seeking more sustainable energy resources, Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives has partnered with Swimsol to implement a solar power energy system.
Waste, Water & Electricity Management
Separate bins and waste management processes were set up to effectively recycle food waste, plastics, tin, metal and other general waste. From harvesting rainwater to recycling excess water from the A/C, to use in various areas from gardening to ‘foot baths’, we have aimed to use the best methods to effectively make the most of our resources.
